Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings are set to headline at this summer’s London Soul & Blues festival on July 21. The two-day festival will be held at The Beach in London - a temporary beach created with 7,500sqm of sand on Greenwich Peninsula. The London Soul & Blues festival is part of this summer’s Peninsula Festival, whose organisers were behind the creation of the artificial beach.

Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings will be the headline act on Saturday, July 21. The evening also includes a range of other artist, including Andy Abraham, Lloyd Wade, Jude, Bianca Nicholas and British Blues Initiative, hitting the stage.

The festival opens on Friday, July 20 with Jools Holland and his 20 piece Rhythm and Blues orchestra, along with artists such as Marc Almond, Nell Bryden and Ruby Turner.

The Beach London is Europe’s largest man-made beach and will feature palm trees, beach bars and a projection dome. It is licensed to remain in its Greenwich location until 2017.

There will be open mic jam sessions on the Saturday afternoon of July 21, and Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings will headline the stage on Saturday evening.

Organisers say the festival will become an annual event. Frank Dekker, festival director, said: "London has been crying out for its own dedicated soul and blues festival. Our vision is to establish the festival as one of the most well-known and respected in the world attracting the very top artists from across the globe.

"We really want to offer a festival where fans can be part of the music and are especially looking forward to the open mic jam sessions on Saturday afternoon, which some of our artists will support."
