As a songwriter, his greatest success was contributing to John Farnham's single "You're the Voice" which reached Top 10 positions in many countries across the world.
Thompson has also been involved with the SAS band (Spike's All Star Band) where he has performed numerous songs, especially the one done by Thompson with Manfred Mann's Earth Band, "Blinded By the Light".

The next day I got to Notodden by bus and checked in at the only hotel in town. Went around town and then got myself changed and ready. Walked to the gig and got lost on the way but found someone who could explain the right way to the venue (google-maps-prints were useless). Got there in time and met some fellow fans from France, they stood next to me at the front. This gig was a kind of christmas-party for a company which spend a whole lot of money to get this great band to play in Notodden. The gig started very late and the setlist was changed from two sets to one and also threw some songs of the setlist ("Baby Love", "It´s raining" and "Crying in the Rain"). The concert went very well and Geraint got the crowd to do the Howlin´ on the right track. Had so much fun and danced a lot and afterwards went back to my hotel. It was a great way to end this day full of events.

The weekend after Oslo saw me traveling to Hamar, Norway. The flight was late like last weekend but I got to Hamar in the late afternoon. Decided to do some sightseeing the next day it was to dark that day. The hotel was good and the venue wasn´t that far away. Walked the venue and read that this was a sold-out gig! This venue was very small and already fully packed with people. Had the opportunity to talk to Dave South and Stuart and we walked in together. Stayed at the merchandise-table and talked to Spike and some fans and friends of the band. As the band took the stage the people applauded like mad. The band was in such a great mood. The band had a lot of fun and as they began to play the Howlin´ Wolfs-song. The whole band started howlin´! That was totally new to me and a lot of fun!!! Geraint started the Howlin´ over and over again. This evening was fun! Some pics taken from the last row of this venue can be found in the flickr-album above.

Bill Wyman´s Rhythm Kings at Union Scene Drammen, Norway, 22nd Nov 2014 

After the gig in Oslo on the 21st Nov 2014 I had a good time and explored some places of Oslo and then got on the train to Drammen. Got to Drammen in time and walked to my hotel which was next to the venue. Had some time to explore the town and get changed and ready. When I got there the people were slowly moving into the venue and I decidet to get to the front and in front of Frank Mead and Nick Payn to get some other impressions of this gig. The concert started very late but the band had fun and the audience loved every song of the two sets. Talked with some fellow fans and exchanged the latest news. Mary Wilson took the stage and the audience went wild. She had fun and gave a great performance. 

After the first half I went to the sound desk. The sound there was so good that it blow me away. Could not stand still for the rest of the gig and danced the whole time.

My first time in Oslo, Norway:

I had to rush a bit because my flight landed very late. Had no time to explore this great city the day the concert. Got to the venue the very last minute before the start of the concert and rushed to my seat. Had a front row seat to the side of the stage. The sound was good and the band was in good mood. The audience had fun but seat the whole time through the concert. That was a bit sad but the band did their best to get them up on their feet at the end of the last song of the second set. Family members of the band were among the audience as well as some friends from spain.
