Beverley Skeete is probably best known for being the lead singer in Bill Wyman's 'Rhythm Kings' for 20 Years. In that time the 'Rhythm Kings' recorded over ten albums .A retrospective album featuring Beverley and Georgie Fame has just been released as a four disc special edition 12" vinyl . This release is called ' My Rhythm King and Queen'.... featuring contributions from artistes such as the late George Harrison ,Chris Rea, Eric Clapton, Martin Taylor and Albert Lee on guitars, Gary Brooker on keyboards and Ray cooper on Percussion.

Winfield Scott "Scotty" Moore III (December 27, 1931 – June 28, 2016) was an American guitarist and recording engineer. He is best known for his backing of Elvis Presley in the first part of his career, between 1954 and the beginning of Elvis's Hollywood years. He was ranked 29th in Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2011. Frank Mead and Peter Mullers´ Project: Slang Funk!

„Slang Funk“ is a new and exciting collaboration between British saxophonist Frank Mead and German bassist and music producer Peter Muller.

 

They have worked together for more than 15 years in the studio and on stage. Having supported each others solo releases, they both felt that the time was right to join forces and present the funkiest parts of their music to live audiences. The name „Slang Funk“ perfectly describes the music, a non-standard spin on roots funk, played with passion, fire and soul.

Frank Mead, an in demand saxophonist in the UK for many years, has worked with an impressive list of international artists ranging from Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings and Gary Moore through to B.B. King, Albert Collins and many more.

Beverley Skeete & The Rhythm Kings will be playing Sturmer Hall on 13, 19 and 20 December, and New Year's Eve.

This set of virtuoso musicians superbly bring back to life the classic rhythm and blues. They include Terry Taylor on guitar, Geraint Watkins on keyboards and vocals, Henry Spinetty on drums, Frank Mead and Nick Payn/Neil Pyzer on horns & harmonica, Greg Harewood on bass as well the amazing vocalist Beverley Skeete (Sturmer Hall Advertisement).

A brief review:
The bands' second German gig on this tour. I prefered to stay downstairs in the crowd and loved to take some pictures. Met some of my friends and talked to a lot of people about the latest news with fellow fans. Right after the show, Bill and Mary made their fans happy by signing lots of items from the stage. A little later Bill came out of the backstage-area to sign even more autographs for the patiently waiting fans. The Bill Wyman´s Rhythm Kings carried on to Scandinavia next day where they performed a string of gigs (see the tour dates for that string of this tour here: Scandinavia Tour Dates/Pictures/Reviews .


Thank you to the fabulous crew! They were so nice to us.

Bill Wyman´s Rhythm Kings at Theatre aan de Schie in Schiedam, 05th Nov 2014

After one day off for the band they returned to the stage at the Theatre aan de Schie in Schiedam and played an almost sold out show. The sound on the balcony was crisped expecially Beverley´s voice was marvelous. The crowd enjoyed the songs and clapped and sang along. Have a look at another view on the band on stage in Schiedam:

Bill Wyman´s Rhythm Kings at Melkweg in Amsterdam, 06th Nov 2014

What can you say about the gig at the Melkweg in Amsterdam?? Well, the crowd went mad. It seemed to be a sold out show. The musicians gave their best and the sound was very good. Met with some friends and had a blast. We emjoyed every minute. The 20 minute-break between the two sets was very special, because Ellen ten Damme played some songs and introduced her new record. The "highlight" of her set was the song "Je suis un rockstar". Bill sat on stage while Ellen sang and as she sang this song he stepped up to the microphone to sing some lyrics of this great song with her. The crowd went mad! B. Wyman´s Rhythm Kings at Uden, Heerlen and Eindhoven 2014

Bill Wyman´s Rhythm Kings at Markant Uden 01st Nov 2014

For the first time in a few month we saw the band again. The venue seemed a bit big at first, but the crowd grew a lot before the concert started. The sound was okay, but we stood at the front so we had both (on stage sound system and front of house) sound systems, so we could not hear the singing properly. Among the crowd were several familiar faces, like Adele and Jan, Rolf and Silke and Gudrun. We chatted and although said "Hello" to the crew after a long time and have a little chat with Dave South (crew boss)! 

Bill stepped onto the stage and everyone knew that this will be a great night. He introduced the members of the band one by one and although told the crowd that Graham Broad could not make the tour and Henry Spinetti had only two days to rehearse 26 songs. He did a great job, but we although saw that Bev, Terry and Nick had to make the start and the ending of a song visible to Henry. We had a blast and got the setlist at the end. Thanks to Dave South!

Bill Wyman´s Rhythm Kings at Parkstad Limburg Heerlen 02nd Nov 2014

The second gig went even smoother than the first. The sound was alright and better than in Uden. Gudrun and I were in a different hall of this venue and rushed to the wright one at the last minute. The band was already on stage and the crowd got wild and danced and sang along throughout the concert.

Bill Wyman´s Rhythm Kings at the Musiekgebouw Eindhoven, 03rd Nov 2014

This was my second time at this venue. This time they only sold seats and my seat in the 4th row was actually very far away from the stage. Geraint surprised us: instead of telling his funny stories he did an impromptu version of Cilla Black's "Anyone who had a heart" which left Bill and the others speechless. The show was not sold out, but the band did their best to entertain the crowd. It seemed like Uden and Eindhoven were to close to each other to be both sold out show. We met with friends and had a blast and stood up for the last few songs and danced at the side.

Last gig of the tour. Due to tight security we had difficulties to take some pictures. The Rhythm Kings played a fab concert as usual and Katie Wyman and Martin Barre (Jethro Tull) were among the audience.
After the gig we said bye-bye to the band and the crew and talked to Graham Broad and his wife for a while. Maria talked about coming to Germany in the future and we should look out for the newsletter of her website.
Nick Payn is currently on tour with Roger Chapman.
Bill will go on a well deserved vacation and we hope to see this band again in the near future.

My first visit to Poole and this venue. We had front row seats and took a couple of pictures in the first half. I enjoyed the solos of Terry a lot this time and had a lot of fun listening to Geraint´s short stories this time. We wer told to stop taking pictures in the interval by the very efficient security. The band played fab, but some people told Maria in the interval that they could not hear the singing-voices properly, which was corrected on the second set.

I have never been to this city and spend some time sightseeing before getting to the gig.
This venue had a barriere in front of the first row and it seemed like you are sitting in the 10th row, but the pictures came out better than I thought.The sound was very good. I was told to stop taking picture after the interval but managed to take some at the end.
Thank you to the band and crew for a great concert.
