Percy Sledge (November 25, 1940 – April 14, 2015) was an American R&B and soul performer who recorded the single "When a Man Loves a Woman" in 1966, an international top 40 hit that the RIAA has certified as gold. He died of liver cancer today at his home in Baton Rouge.
RIP Mister Sledge. You gave us one of the greatest songs a guy could ever devote to his loved one.
