Ein Nachmittag auf den Harley Days Hamburg 2015

Am Sonntag, den 28.06.2015, fanden wir endlich die Zeit, uns auf den diesjährigen Harley Days umzusehen. Jedes Jahr ein "Muss" für uns. Einfach ein Wochenende entspannen, coole Bikes sehen und entspannte Leute treffen. Wie auch die letzes Jahr bildete dieses Jahr keine Ausnahme. Das Wetter tat am Sonntag sein übriges, dass man sich gerne dort aufhielt. Das Großneumarkt-Gelände ist sehr weitläufig, aber an diesem Wochenende ein reines Meer an Bikes, einfach nur zum Staunen.

Auch das Live-Programm war dieses Jahr wieder interessant.

Darunter waren die Revolutionaires, eine Band, die 1950's R&B, Rock & Roll und Jump Jive spielt. Die Band war gut gelaunt und riss das Publikum mit. Es war so heiß, dass die meisten sich allerdings nach einiger Zeit einen schattigeren Platz suchten, um von dort das Konzert mitzuerleben.

Modern Earl waren die Band, die nach The Revolutionaires, die Bühne betraten. Sie spielen Southern Country Rock. Modern Earl bringen die Südstaaten nach Europa! Mit ihrem Southern Country Rock vereinen sie den Twang des Country, das raue, leidenschaftliche Feeling des Blues, das Feuer des Bluegrass und die Power des Südstaatenrock zu einem unverwechselbaren Sound. Ob sie vor tausenden von Fans auf einer Festivalbühne spielen oder in der Bar um die Ecke ist reine Nebensache – sobald die Jungs eine Bühne betreten, wird das Publikum von der unglaublichen Energie und Spielfreude der vier Ausnahmemusiker aus New York , Tennessee und Texas schier überwältigt. Der Gig war sehr gut und die Leute machten begeistert mit. Dies sind die Bandmitglieder:

Nach dem Gig gingen wir noch eine Runde und schauten uns ein paar Stände mit den tollen Bikersachen an und entspannten bei einem Drink. 

Ein rundum gelungener Nachmittag. Wer coole Motorräder sehen, Leute treffen und einen oder mehrere entspannte Tage verbringen möchte, dem kann ich diesen Event nur empfehlen. Im nächsten Jahr finden die Harley Days vom 24. bis 26. Juni 2015 in Hamburg statt.

Chris Squire / Yes (1948 - 2015)

Christopher Russell Edward "Chris" Squire (March 4, 1948 - June 28, 2015) war Mitbegründer der Band "Yes" und verstarb am 28.06.2015 in Phoenix, Arizona, an den Folgen einer Leukämie-Erkrankung.

Daniel Patrick Macnee, known professionally as Patrick Macnee, was an English-American actor. He was best known for his role as the secret agent John Steed in the television series The Avengers.

Der britische Schauspieler Daniel Patrick Macnee verstarb am 25.06.2015 in seiner Wahlheimat in Californien. Er wurde durch die Serie "The Avengers", in Deutschland unter dem Titel "Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone" berühmt. Wie auch in der Serie war er ein Gentleman, der in der Serie nie ohne Bowler-Hut und einem Regenschirm anzutreffen war.

Vintage Trouble in Hannover 2015


Approx. 75.000 fans at Hannover Messe. We were lucky to be in FOS-Section. 

The Whiskey Foundation did their best, but the sound was very poor. 

 

Vintage Trouble got the crowd on their feet and did a great set of songs. The band played tight and the singer is a real front-man who knows how to work the crowd. He did crowd-surfing as well. 

After Vintage Trouble we had to wait for some time, which we spend talking to fellow fans and having a drink.

Then AC/DC entered the stage with a cool intro and everyone went wild, sang along, headbanging or/and dancing and singing along to every song. We all had a blast and were so happy to be there. 

Cliff had to work a lot (with gestures etc.) to make sure that Stevie and Chris got every song right (intros etc.). Thank you Cliff Williams!

This band does not need a lot of show besides the things you expect from an AC/DC-Concert (Rosie, The Bell, The Guns).  

The concert lasted at least two hours. 

After the concert we got something to drink and bought some merchandise and left the Messegelände. What a night!

This event took place at the Royal Albert Hall. 

The Lead Belly Fest honoured the music of Lead Belly. He had a troubled life. The event was in support of the Lead Belly Estate and Foundation as well as the Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice Care with HRH The Countess of Wessex in attendance. 
There was one highlight chasing the other. The main highlight was Walter Trouts comeback. He was introduced by his wife Marie. Her speach brought tears to all of us. He fought like a warrior to make this happen. After his first song this evening everyone got up on their feet and he was overwhelmed. Tom Paley (87) performed "On A Monday". He is the only member of the Lead Belly band who is still alive. 
Eric Bibb did two accoustic songs. 
Eric Burdon and Sir Van Morrison´s performances were also great. Van Morrison brought the house down with songs like Astral Weeks, Cleaning Windows and Midnight Special. Eric and Van were joined by all the stars that performed earlier and sung "Goodnight Irene" etc.

Ace Frehley - Space Invader Concert Hamburg, 10th June 2015

The opening-act was not a good choice this night, too loud and as a result we could not understand the vocals from the position we were standing. 

We saw Ace arriving at the venue. He had to do his M&G first, so he got on stage very late.

But as soon as he took the stage the audience went wild. The energy at this concert was totally different to the KISS-Show earlier this week.

We decided not go to the front row this time, which was a good decision as we spoke to a couple after the gig that was at the front. They were pushed against the stage as there were no barriers in front of the stage.

We had a blast! This was a pure Rock´n Roll Concert with this special guy. He let his bandmates shine too. Chris played a hell of a bass. Richie Scarlet went wild as the audience or even more when he played his solos. Ace smiled at Richie a couple of times and even shook his head in disbelieve as Richie seemed to be so into his playing.
Scot had some trouble at the beginning of "Love Gun" but held the band together and did a brilliant drum solo.

Christopher Lee † (1922 - 2015)

Der britische Schauspieler Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee verstarb am 07.06.2015. Er wurde mit dem Filmen Dracula zum Star. Die Liste der Charaktere, die Christopher Lee in seinem Leben verkörpert hat, ist lang. Bis zu 300 Rollen sollen es gewesen sein, was dem Briten sogar einen Eintrag im Guinness-Buch der Rekorde einbrachte. 

Er wurde unzählige Male ausgezeichnet, sogar eine Auszeichnung des Metal Hammer ist darunter. Seine Bassstimme war sehr kraftvoll und hatte etwas Magisches.

Bill Wyman’s White Lightnin’ – The Solo Box – CD and DVD collection launching

Bill Wyman has revealed details of a special CD and DVD boxset releasing on June 15. White Lightnin’ The Solo Box features four of Bill’s albums and a special DVD.

This box contains all four solo albums by Bill Wyman, the first Rolling Stone to release a solo record. The first two (from 1974 and 1976, both issued on Rolling Stones Records) were made the help of a galaxy of musical friends like Lowell George, Dr John, Joe Walsh, Van Morrison, the Pointer Sisters, Danny Kortchmar, Dallas Taylor, Leon Russell, Bob Welch and Nicky Hopkins. The eponymous third album was home to Bill's 1981 big hit single "(Si Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star", while fourth album "Stuff" appeared in 1992, originally in Japan only. The albums are bolstered by 24 bonus tracks, four of which are previously unreleased (two demos and two 12" mixes). Also included is a DVD featuring a brand new interview with Bill conducted by David Hepworth, eight promo videos, and a variety of TV clips from the BBC archives. The 40 page booklet contains all the credits, the lyrics and new annotation by David Wells.

Zum KISS-Konzert zu gehen, war einfach eine Bauchentscheidung, die ich nicht bereue. Ein gutes Ticket gabs noch am Tag des Konzertes. Das Konzert war fast ausverkauft und die Fans warteten voller Ungeduld auf die Band. Die Vorband war allerdings auch nicht von schlechten Eltern. Die Dead Daisies sind eine Allstar-Band mit wechselnder Besetzung. Auf Anhieb hätte ich John Corabi zwar nicht erkannt, aber er machte Stimmung und war auch gut bei Stimme. Die Band an sich hat so überzeugt, dass nach dem Konzert die CD der Band reißenden Absatz fand. 

Die Pause zwischen Vorband und Hauptact war ziemlich lang und die Fans wurden ungeduldig. Als endlich die Ansprache kam "You wanted the best, you got the best ... The hottest band in the world .... KISS" ging ein Ruck durch das gesamte Publikum in der Halle. Die Band betrat die Bühne unter tosendem Applaus. Alle Fans in der Halle standen, selbst die Leute (wie ich), die einen Sitzplatz hatten, hielt es nicht auf dem Sitz. Von der ersten bis zur letzten Sekunde standen die Leute und sangen mit, einfach eine super Stimmung. Die Setlist war sehr gemischt und ich war selbst sehr überrascht, dass sogar "Psycho Circus" es auf diese geschafft hatte. Die älteren Songs wurden genauso abgefeiert, wie auch die neueren (Monster). Die Band spielte sehr gut, auch wenn es zeitweise sehr laut war in der Halle, wo man dann den Gesang nicht überall so gut verstand. Respekt muss man den Herren zollen, dass sie noch auf der Bühne so abgehen und dann auch noch die imposanten Kostüme tragen.

Ein echtes Erlebnis und ich glaube, keiner der Fans hat sich nach dieser Show mit all der Pyro, den Lichteffekten und der geilen Musik über den Preis beklagt. 

Die Reunion Tour und Psycho Circus Tour habe ich noch intensiver mitgemacht und zwar in mehreren Städten in Deutschland. Damals war es halt noch die Originalbesetzung. 
Da man nie weiß, ob das nicht die letzte Tour ist, wollte ich einfach Gene und Paul nochmals sehen. Eric Singer und Tommy Thayer sind klasse Musiker und ich rate jedem, sich diese Band noch einmal live anzusehen.

From Albert Lee & Hogan's Heroes:

Albert and Hogan’s Heroes have decided to take a break from touring together after the spring dates of 2015. Albert wishes to spend a little more time nearer home on the other side of the Atlantic and scale back his touring commitments here in Europe.

Watch this space regularly though for further Hogan’s Heroes projects, both solo and collective.

For the 2015 tour we are pleased to announce that we will be joined by Doña Oxford, who will be replacing Gavin Povey on keyboards. Gavin decided to step down at the end of our recent autumn tour in order to concentrate on various solo projects, so do look out for those. You will find a link to Gavin’s website by clicking on LINKS at the top of this page. While we will miss Gavin’s incredible skills as a player, singer and producer, we are excited at the prospect of touring with Doña.
