The Kast of Kinks - Tour Dates
The Kast Off Kinks formed in 1994 to keep the music playing on, and it is what the name implies - the original line-up consisted of the band that played Lola (apart from Ray and Dave) - Avory, Dalton and Gosling - together with singer/guitarist Dave Clarke.
The current line-up is the band that played Come Dancing - Avory, Gibbons and Rodford (respectively the Kinks’ longest-serving drummer, keyboard player and bassist) - still with Dave Clarke covering for the Davies brothers..
(As Jim is currently very busy playing with The Zombies and Argent, John Dalton often comes out of retirement to stand in for him.)
Almost every other ex-Kink has guested with The Kast Off Kinks, including Ray Davies.

CWN - Wrestling Event in Pinneberg
26. August 2012: Auch Joe E. Legend und Big Van Walter in Pinneberg dabei! |

Neil Armstrong, first man to walk on the moon, dies at age 82
Neil Armstrong, first man to walk on the moon, dies at age 82
Former astronaut commanded Apollo 11 mission and was known for saying 'One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind'
Armstrong underwent a heart-bypass surgery earlier this month, just two days after his birthday on August 5, to relieve blocked coronary arteries.
As commander of the Apollo 11 mission, Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the moon on July 20, 1969. As he stepped on the dusty surface, Armstrong said: "That's one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind."
Those words endure as one of the best known quotes in the English language.
Neil Alden Armstrong was 38 years old at the time, and even though he had fulfilled one of mankind's quests that had loomed for centuries and placed him at the pinnacle of human achievement, he did not revel in his accomplishment. He even seemed frustrated by the acclaim it brought.
"I guess we all like to be recognized not for one piece of fireworks but for the ledger of our daily work," Armstrong said in an interview on CBS's 60 Minutes program in 2005.
He once was asked how he felt knowing his footprints would likely stay on the moon's surface for thousands of years. "I kind of hope that somebody goes up there one of these days and cleans them up," he said.

CWN in Pinneberg - Trainingscamp Ankündigung
19. August 2012: Trainingscamp mit Robbie Dynamite // zwei weitere Ankündigungen! |

Scott McKenzie, singer of 'San Francisco,' dies at 73
The Examiner.com:
Talented singer and songwriter, Scott McKenzie, states Wikipedia, died on Saturday, August 18, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. In memory, be sure and wear some flowers in your hair!
Scott McKenzie was best known for singing the 1967 hit single, "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)." It was written by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas.
McKenzie (Philip Blonheim) was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but he grew up in North Carolina and Virginia. He moved from Florida, with his family, when he was only a baby (six months old).
By the 1950s, this future talented singer and guitarist grew up, becoming friends with the son of one of his mother's friends, John Phillips. In the mid-1950s he sang briefly with Tim Rose in a high school group called The Singing Strings, and later with Phillips, Mike Boran and Bill Cleary formed a doo wop band, The Abstracts.
In New York, The Abstracts became The Smoothies, and they recorded two singles with Decca Records.

"[We] were working at one of the last great night clubs, The Elmwood Casino in Windsor, Ontario. We were part of a variety show, three acts, dancing girls, and the entire cast took part in elaborate, choreographed stage productions.
As you might imagine, after-show parties were common. At one of these parties I complained that nobody could understand my real name... [and] pointed out that this was a definite liability in a profession that benefited from instant name recognition.
Everyone started trying to come up with a new name for me. It was [comedian] Jackie Curtis who said he thought I looked like a Scottie dog. Phillips came up with Laura's middle name after Jackie's suggestion. I didn't like being called "Scottie" so everybody agreed my new name could be Scott McKenzie." - Scott McKenzie
In 1961 Phillips and McKenzie met Dick Weissman and formed The Journeymen, which recorded three albums and seven singles for Capitol Records.
After The Beatles became popular in 1964, The Journeymen disbanded. McKenzie and Weissman became solo performers, while Phillips formed the group The Mamas & the Papas with Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot and Michelle Phillips. McKenzie moved to California.
McKenzie originally declined an opportunity to join the group (The Mamas & the Papas), saying in a 1977 interview,

Phillips wrote and co-produced "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" for McKenzie. Phillips also played guitar on the recording.
"San Francisco" was released on May 13, 1967 in the United States. It was an instant hit!
McKenzie followed "San Francisco" with "Like An Old Time Movie," also written and produced by Phillips, and it was a minor hit. In addition, McKenzie co-wrote the number one single for the Beach Boys, "Kokomo" (1988).
McKenzie's first album, The Voice of Scott McKenzie, was followed with an album called Stained Glass Morning. He stopped recording in the early 1970s and lived in Joshua Tree, California and Virginia Beach.

In 1986 Scott McKenzie began singing again. He sang with a new version of The Mamas & the Papas. The band consisted of Terry Melcher, Mike Love and John Phillips.
By 1998 McKenzie had retired from the road version of The Mamas & Papas, and he resided in Los Angeles, California. Soon he came out of retirement, in 2001, to appear at a tribute concert in Los Angeles for John Phillips.

Sir Elton John says he is "devastated and shocked" after his bass player was found dead, aged 56.
Robert Wayne Birch, who had recorded and toured with Sir Elton since the early 1990s, was found in his apartment with a gunshot wound to the head. The case is "being investigated as a possible suicide," said Los Angeles Assistant Coroner Chief, Ed Winter.
"My heart goes out to Bob's wife Michele, his son Jonathan and his family," said Sir Elton in a statement.
Guitarist Birch, 56, joined the musician's touring band in 1992 and worked on four of his albums, as well as the 1997 re-working of Candle In The Wind.
A saxophonist as well as a bassist, he had spent most of his time over the past 20 years touring with Sir Elton, but he also collaborated with a string of other famous names including Eric Clapton, BB King, Stevie Wonder and Tina Turner.
Sir Elton is currently taking a break from touring, and returns to performing in Ontario on 7 September. He issued a statement on his website, in which he said, "Bob was family".
"He had been a member of my band for 20 years; we played over 1,400 concerts together. He was one of the greatest musicians I have ever worked with, and in all our years on the road he never played or sang a bad note.
"I cannot find the words to describe this tragic death, and how much I loved him. May he rest in peace."
TMZ reported that police did not find a suicide note and there were no apparent signs of drug use.
Birch is survived by his wife, Michele, and a son, Jonathan
