RIP Dallas Taylor (1948 - 2015)

"Sad news- RIP Dallas Taylor, one of the best drummers I have ever worked with. This is his playing on my song "At The Candy Shop" (Terry Taylor/Bill Wyman/Alan Merrill) recorded in south of France, 1977. An album title track for me in recent years. Dallas was a fun person to be around and so musical. He will be missed."

"Buddy and Junior continued to work as a double act but their peak activity on the Stones tour was two years in the past. But it was the Stones connection that brought about the session contained here. Bill Wyman was contacted by Montreux Jazz Festival organiser Claude Nobs, who asked him to put together a rhythm section to back Muddy Waters. It turned out that Nobs had also booked Buddy and Junior to appear, along with pianist Pinetop Perkins. Wyman recruited drummer Dallas Taylor, a lynchpin of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's band, and a guitarist, Terry Taylor (no relation), from rockers Tucky Buzzard, with whom he'd worked frequently in the past.
" 'So, the three of us went to Montreux,' Wyman told Willock, 'and we set up a rehearsal with Muddy. We got up there and met Buddy again, and Junior and Pinetop. We rehearsed two halves of two numbers. And Muddy said, "Great! That'll do." We went back to the hotel with Buddy and Junior. They said, "Look, we don't like our backing group. Would you like to back us too, on the first set?" Delighted! So we just went on, and we didn't really have a rehearsal with them either. We went on the next day and did the whole set. Buddy was just counting the times in and Dallas Taylor as really good, because he had to get it the first time, whatever it was'."

Dallas Woodrow Taylor Jr. (April 7, 1948 – January 18, 2015) was an American session drummer who played on several rock records of the 1960s and 1970s. He achieved some success first with 1960s band Clear Light, but is best known as the drummer on Crosby, Stills and Nash's debut album, Crosby, Stills & Nash (1969) and their follow-up with Neil Young, Déjà Vu (1970) and was given a front-sleeve credit along with Motown bassist Greg Reeves.
Taylor's wife confirmed the musician's death on January 18, 2015, according to a brief notice in the on-line version of Variety.

Tenacious D ist eine komödiantische Rock-Band, bestehend aus Kyle Gass
und Jack Black. Beide sind sowohl Musiker als auch Schauspieler.
Geschichte
Kyle Gass und Jack Black trafen sich zum ersten Mal in Edinburgh, Schottland, beim Theaterfestival „Edinburgh Fringe“. Gass war damals rund 24 und Black 16 Jahre alt, beide waren zu dieser Zeit Mitglieder der Theatergruppe The Actors Gang aus Los Angeles. Gass brachte Black das Gitarrespielen bei und schlug, beeindruckt durch Blacks gute Gesangsfähigkeit, vor, eine Band zu gründen.
Der Bandname wurde von einem Ausdruck abgeleitet, mit dem der Sportreporter Eaven Harters die hartnäckige Abwehr („tenacious defense“) der Basketballmannschaft New York Knicks beschrieb. Der Name wurde bei ihrem ersten Liveauftritt im Jahr 1994 endgültig vom Publikum gewählt. (Zur Auswahl standen außerdem noch: Pets or Meat, Balboa’s Biblical Theatre und The Axe Lords Featuring Gorgazon’s Mischief.) Bei diesem Auftritt wurden sie von David Cross entdeckt, der sie für seine Sketch-Comedy-Fernsehserie Mr. Show engagierte.

Trevor Leonard Ward-Davies ist gestorben
Trevor war ein Mitglied der britischen Band "Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich", die mit vielen Hits, wie z. B. "The Legend of Xanadu", die Welt der Musik bereichert haben. Dave Dee verstarb bereits im Jahr 2009 und nun verstarb auch Trevor. Dies gab Andy Scott von The Sweet auf Facebook:
"Another of our friends in the Music Business has passed away - Dozy from the band Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich. His real name was Trevor Ward-Davies but his nickname was perfect. Andy first met the band in 1966 when they came to North Wales for a show and he was in the support act - “They were brilliant” Andy recalls. Dozy and the band has appeared on many festivals and shows with Sweet including Rock Against Cancer in 2013. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Yvonne and his family and to Tich and the other band members. His legacy is the numerous hit records that will stand forever."

Günther "Cisco" Berndt verstorben †
Just learned by the TRUCK STOP Facebook-Page, that Cisco Berndt passed away. Cisco belonged to the german country band TRUCK STOP for over 40 years. In 2013 he retired from the band.
Günther "Cisco" Berndt ist verstorben. Er war eines der Gründungsmitglieder der Band "Truck Stop". Bisher ist die Todesursache nicht bekannt (lt. CMN), es laufen polizeiliche Ermittlungen.

Liebe Fans und Freunde der Gruppe Truck Stop,
das neue Jahr 2015 begann für uns mit einer erschütternden Nachricht. Unser Freund und ehemaliger Bandkollege "Cisco Berndt" ist Ende 2014 im Alter von 72 Jahren verstorben. Für uns kam diese Nachricht vollkommen unerwartet. Cisco ist nun für immer von uns gegangen und wir sind in tiefer Trauer. Es fällt schwer unsere Trauer in richtige Worte zu fassen.
Cisco Berndt war im Jahre 1973 Mitbegründer unserer Countryband "TRUCK STOP". Als einer der Sänger bei Truck Stop hat sich Cisco mit seiner markanten Stimme und bekannten Hits wie "Arizona, Arizona", "Erwin, der dicke Schneemann" und "Die Frau mit dem Gurt" in die Herzen von Millionen Fans gesungen. 40 Jahre lang war Cisco mit TRUCK STOP - den "Cowboys der Nation" - überaus erfolgreich in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz unterwegs. Zum Ende des Jahres 2013 hat Cisco dann seine 40 Jahre andauernde Bühnenkarriere beendet und hat die Band Truck Stop aus Altersgründen verlassen.
Was für geile Zeiten das doch war'n !
Cisco, wir werden Dich nicht vergessen.

"Appen musiziert" - Benefiz-Gala endet 2015
„Appen musiziert“: Benefiz-Gala endet 2015 mit Knalleffekt - Am 20.
September steigt nach 25 Jahren die 30. und letzte Auflage von „Appen
musiziert“. Doch Initiator Rolf Heidenberger verspricht: Es wird eine
Mega-Show geben und das Spendensammeln wird weitergehen.

Die Stars dieses besonderen Events werden von den Leserinnen und Lesern der sh:z und des Pinneberger A. Beig-Verlags im Januar per Voting gewählt. Macht alle fleißig mit und das Programm wird der Hammer.
„Appen makes music“: Benefit performance gala ends in 2015 with sensation - on the 20th of September. The 30. and last edition of „Appen rises after 25 years makes music“. However, initiator Rolf Heidenberger promises: It becomes a mega show and the donation collecting will go on.

Jeff Golub died on 1st January 2015
Saw him with Rod Stewart and was impressed by his playing. He was a very nice guy.
Jeff worked as a sideman with lots of artists, starting with Billy Squier, and was best known for his work with Rod Stewart.
Jeff recorded 11 solo albums and 3 CD's as the leader of the instrumental band "Avenue Blue".
A tribute concert featuring many of the artists with whom Golub collaborated will take place Jan. 21 at B.B. King's Blues Club in Manhattan.
My thoughts are with his family and friends and fans.
